This pilgrimage site is Our Lady of Lebanon, located in Harissa, Lebanon. This Marian Site/Shrine is a very important place to visit, for Christians in this country. The majority of Christians that go to Lebanon, always visit this shrine. It is the most amazing thing in Lebanon for Christians, it strengthens their faith in Mary the Mother God, and brings the visitors closer to her. This is the most important and most visited Marian Site/Shrine in the Middle East. From experience, going to this site makes your faith in Mary stronger, it makes your relationship with Mary, the Mother of God bigger. Inside the base of the statue, is a small chapel, where amazing masses are held. To stand in front of the 13 ton white statue of Mary, you must walk up a long set of stairs, walking up the stairs is a spectacular feeling, because its like you are walking up to heaven, you are walking up to Mary the Mother of God. Also, where this statue is set (650m above sea level) is important, you can just feel that Our Lady of Lebanon is looking over the nation and its people, protecting them & guiding them through their lives, that's how important it is.

A Marian apparition is unexplainable according to the laws and rules of nature. However, there is another side, A Marian apparition is an event, when someone believes the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, has supernaturally appeared to one or more people. A Marian apparition must be approved by the Church. There are only a few Marian apparitions confirmed and recognised by the church and a couple of them are: Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France & Paris in France. There are a few others too. People believe there have been other Marian apparitions but haven't really been recognised by the church. A nearby one, was in Coogee Beach in 2003. A Marian apparition is usually named after the town/city it occurred in. For example, Our Lady of Lourdes. The apparition occurred in Lourdes, France. Marian apparitions relate to pilgrimage sites because they basically the pilgrimage sites. Christians go to Lourdes, Fatima and other locations where an apparition has occurred, these are the pilgrimage sites. Most people believe apparitions have a massive effect on their lives, things like conversion, deeper prayer, devotion to the rosary and return to the sacraments. Pilgrimage sites like these, strengthen your faith.

If I was to visit the site as a pilgrim, I would like to learn many things, especially about my faith and how I can make it bigger and better.The history of the site is pretty important, wanting to know how it all started. I would like to learn miracles or apparitions in the city/country, because then you could sort of say that this pilgrimage site has an effect on the people. When you go to this pilgrimage site, you want to see peoples faith getting bigger and bigger, and then you would realise that this site has an effect on the people.I expect to learn more things about my faith, going deeper into my faith and not just the basic things. Pope Benedict XVI recently went to the statue of Our Lady of Lebanon, this drew people towards our Mother Mary even more.
